What FofHCS do

The ‘Friends of Heaton Chapel Station’ are a group of volunteers dedicated to improving our local station.

Our activities include:

  • Gardening and landscaping of areas around the platforms and their approaches.
  • providing and maintaining planters.
  • Organising Art projects (stainless family, running man, artwork on stairs etc.)
  • Providing ‘The Travellers Library’, a book swap scheme.
  • Painting handrails and walls
  • Lobbying the Rail companies for improvements to rail services.
  • Working with North and Network Rail to improve the station.
  • Decorating the ticket office at Christmas.
  • Working on projects that benefit the station (large ticket office clock, 24ft replica Victorian sign, defibrillator)
  • Raising funds for projects.

We are always in need of more volunteers to help maintain the station gardens and keep the areas neat and tidy. You don’t have to be an enthusiast or expert to help – just turn up at one of our events or meetings!

So, why not join us, you’d be most welcome.
